HyP3D is a Horizon Europe project focused on advancing solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) technology by using 3D printing of advanced ceramics to enable high-pressure hydrogen production.
Traditionally, solid oxide electrolysis has been limited to atmospheric pressure operations, but HyP3D aims to overcome this limitation by delivering game-changing high-pressure electrolysis SOEC stacks, without the need for pressure vessels or enclosures. HyP3D is based on breakthrough concepts enabled by unique 3D-printed corrugated cells with embedded functionality and enhanced surface-modified sealants.
By developing the HyP3D stack, the project aims to pave the way for efficient, compact, and cost-effective pressurized hydrogen production, with applications such as gas grid injection (Power-to-Gas) or high-pressure hydrogen storage, such as in the case of hydrogen refueling stations.
